Utopia x Hiya Dive Center

Hiya Dive Center began in Phuket, Thailand, with a deep-rooted love for the ocean and a strong desire to share that amongst the Chinese diving community. Over the years, Hiya built a strong reputation within that community, known for expert-led dives, a high standard of training, and a warm atmosphere that made each diver feel welcomed.

Towards the end of 2024, discussions about reaching a broader, more diverse audience felt necessary. We understood that as the diving industry continues to grow and evolve, it was important for the company to expand its reach and embrace a new customer base. With talks of name changes, we appreciated what Hiya had created, but also wanted to start looking towards the future and create something more adaptable to the ever-changing industry.

At the beginning of 2025, the decision was made to create a second name that would allow us to achieve short-term goals and expand our customer base to the international sector. This creation also aligned us to begin working towards our long-term goals of building a more adaptable company. Utopia Dive Center allowed us to fill those gaps and embrace looking towards the future.

After careful consideration, we did not want to disband the Hiya name due to its already established reputation among the Chinese community within Phuket. As a result, this sparked a meaningful collaboration between Utopia and Hiya Dive Center, where we could combine our strengths to create a more inclusive, enriching experience for divers while upholding the same core values that Hiya built its reputation with.

While Hiya will continue to manage our Chinese customer base, and Utopia will manage its now growing international sector, the partnership has a shared vision: to deliver exceptional, safe, and soul-stirring dives that connect people with the ocean—and with each other. Through this shared vision, the two names will continue to work in cohesion and embark on an exciting new chapter.
